I am sure the Creed II trailer has been flashing across our screen lately and you are wondering whether you should take your time (and hard earned cash-o-la) to head out to the movies and see it.

Fortunately for all of you, I was able to see a pre-screening just in time to give all the tea and help with your decision. Coming into this movie, I had 2 major concerns. One it is a sequel. I am sure that many of you have seen a movie, fell in love and then saw the sequel only to be disappointed. Once a classic movie is made, the bar is set high and sadly only a few franchises have been able to achieve a victorious outcome and way more than I like to admit or my wallet likes to remember have failed. (AKA the sequels to: The Mask or Honey I Shrunk the Kids….smh) My second issue is that there has been SOOO MANY FIGHTING FILMS LATELY! Would Creed II stick out among the rest or would it blend in with the rest of the films with poor acting, poor storylines, and even worse knowledge of what goes into training, the sacrifices, and injuries that come along with he sport. Sorry a few workout scenes does not even begin to show the life of a fighter. (No, I am not a fighter. Yes, I have seen what it entails coming from a father that founded on of the biggest MMA gyms in the world… so ha!).

So was Creed II a flop or a favorite? And the verdict is….. FAVORITE!!!! First of all, how can you go wrong when you have an iconic actors like Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren, some hot eye candy like Michael B. Jordan and newcomer Florian Munteanu, (whom both made a special appearance at last nights viewing) along with the amazing supporting actresses Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad. This cast was just right for the movie and each played their part perfectly. The storyline fell just right and brought back previous storylines to intertwine with this one from the Rocky movies as well as the first Creed. Not only that, but my favorite part of the movie was to see all of the struggles someone in any sport, but most definitely in boxing endures. Daily workouts, pressure from your team, and in some places country, (Remember Khabib Nurmagomedov) broken and damaged bodies, along with all the “press drama” that constantly circulates to promote a fight, grabbing at any and all hurt and pain. Creed II shows all of this and more. It is a story about finding yourself when you want to quit, overcoming obstacles that come in your way, and finding every silver lining in the darkest of hours (SPILLING TEA: someone may be prego and there may be some hardship with the expected). I will most definitely be binging on the Rocky series as well as the first Creed before heading out to see Creed II again!

This is a MUST SEE movie!
