“Please believe I’m working on lightening up my lead foot,” Toya told fans in statement. The reality TV star said that she is a law-abiding citizen and that her arrest was the result of a ticket that “slipped through the cracks.” She pledged that if she did get another ticket she wouldn’t waste any time getting it paid off.

Toya, who married music executive MeMpHiTz after divorcing Lil Wayne, spent less than a day in jail before she was released on $290 bail. The timing of her arrest could not have been worse since she spent the night behind bars on MeMpHiTz’s birthday.

“I try my best to take care of that sort of thing quickly,” Toya said in a message she posted to Instagram. “I spent a day in jail and I must say that this experience was one of the most devastating of my life. I wouldn’t wish jail time for my worse enemy.”

Although she wouldn’t go into detail about what she saw, she said that other women in lockup were treated inhumanely. “I never thought in a million years that the kind of things I’ve witnessed went on. The situation was so bad that I don’t even want to leave out the house,” she wrote.

Using herself as a prime example, Toya explained that not everyone behind bars was a danger to the rest of society; some are inmates are locked up for pretty innocuous offenses. Still, she wasn’t happy to see some of the harsh things she saw and she ‘s considering becoming an advocate for inmates. She stated, “After my ordeal I am seriously contemplating being an advocate of better treatment of prisoners.

Not all of the cops she encountered were bad, though. Revealing that had actually been to two different correctional facilities, she shared, “After being transported from one jail to another for a freaking traffic ticket. I met some cool and helpful cops at College park Jail. Thank you guys for being so sweet and helpful to me.”

She concluded her message writing, “What a way to celebrate my hubby’s bday.”
