Jay-Z’s new album to go instantly platinum because of Samsung giveaway. The mobile phone company have bought up one million copies of ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’

Jay-Z’s forthcoming new album ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ is set to go platinum ahead of its official release because of a deal made with Samsung.

One million copies of the album will be given away for free to Samsung Galaxy smartphone users 72 hours ahead of the record’s official release on July 4, instantly qualifying the LP for platinum sales status. The Wall Street Journal reports that Samsung paid $5 (£3.18) for each copy of the album. Users will receive the music through the Magna Carta app, which they will get later this month.
