The trailer for Lee Daniels’ historical drama, The Butler, has just been released. The all-star cast includes Oprah Winfrey, Forest Whitaker, Terrence Howard and more. Watch the trailer here.

Lee Daniels’ movie is inspired by a Washington Post article about a black man who served as White House butler to eight presidents.

The Butler unfolds through the eyes of Cecil Gaines (Forest Whitaker), a real-life steward who served seven sitting U.S. presidents starting with Dwight D. Eisenhower on up until his retirement in 1986 working for Ronald Reagan.

Oprah Winfrey plays the butler’s wife, Gloria, who has issues with her and Cecil’s radical son, Louis Gaines, played by Lincoln’s David Oyelowo.

The all-star cast includes John Cusack, Alan Rickman, James Marsden, Liev Schreiber, Robin Williams, Orlando Eric Street (the presidents) and Jane Fonda, Minka Kelly, Melissa Leo (the first ladies). Nelsan Ellis will play Martin Luther King, Jr. with a supporting cast of Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Lenny Kravitz, David Oyelowo, Vanessa Redgrave and Alex Pettyfer.

The Butler is set to hit theaters October 18. Will you go see it?
