Chris Brown recently invited MTV along with other media outlets to a listening session of his sixth album. After much speculation, Brown has finally announce the title of his upcoming sixth studio album.
Chris Brown told MTV in an interview that he plans to open up on his forthcoming album, X, due out this year.
“X is about life, it’s about me,” he says. “X is the 24th letter of the alphabet, and I’ll be 24 when it comes out. When you see X on a vial, it’s like forbidden fruit. For me, it means being able to express myself without a filter, without boundaries.”
“The song and the album title ‘X’ has a couple different meanings,” Brown told MTV. “It can refer to an ex-girlfriend, in terms of you always look forward to moving forward from.
Breezy also revealed two particularly exciting collaborations on his upcoming album. The first single, “Fine China,” is written by Diplo, who also produces the “pop”-sounding title track, and Kendrick Lamar guests on a song called “Autumn Leaves.” Says Chris of the track:
If you’re in your car just riding, it’s perfect. It just feels like a weather record — an emotional record,” he said of the slowed-down selection with a bass line that sounds like a heartbeat. “I feel a certain way when I hear it.”
