Miami HEAT champion and East team captain, Dwyane Wade, has hosted his 6th Annual All-Star Weekend charity events during NBA All-Star Weekend in Houston, TX this past weekend. Wade’s mission, as always, was to raise money for charities and to encourage fathers to play an active role in the lives of their children.

On Friday, February 15, to kick off the All-Star Weekend festivities, Wade held a meet and greet with Make-A-Wish children and their families. Afterwards, Dwyane together with Pastor Joel Osteen and New York Knicks Assistant General Manager Allan Houston hosted a Fatherhood and Family Panel Discussion addressing the fatherlessness issue across the country. The panel, held at Lakewood Church, was moderated by Soledad O’Brien and Pastor Carl Lentz. Former NBA players Etan Thomas and Michael Redd also participated in the panel discussion. Later that evening, Dwyane celebrated his landmark partnership with LI-NING on the creation of the new athletic footwear and apparel brand called WADE. The celebration featured performances by T.I. and special guests included Ludacris, Gabby Douglas, Common, Queen Latifah, and Alonzo Mourning. Food was prepared by Chef Eddie Huang and Chef Ameera.

On Saturday, for the sixth year in a row, Wade hosted his “All-Star Luncheon.” All funds raised by the Wade’s World Foundation from this event went to directly support the Houston-based charity Houston Early Age Risk Testing & Screening. Spike Lee, Yao Ming and Pat Riley were in attendance. Later that day, Dwyane Wade appeared at a WADE brand showcase pop-up store in Houston to celebrate his signature LI-NING/WADE footwear that will be sold in the U.S. Wade participated in a Q&A with fans and signed limited quantities of WADE footwear. source: Press Release
