This is absolutely insane! For the second time this year, fire hit Tyler Perry’s studio in southwest Atlanta on Monday. WTF. Check out the scoop!
(CBS/AP) Officials are investigating a fire at filmmaker Tyler Perry’s studios in Atlanta, the second blaze in the past four months at the filming complex.
The fire was reported just before 11 a.m. Monday and there were no reports of injuries. Authorities say the fire was contained to the roof, which had been undergoing repairs at the time of the blaze.
On May 1, more than 100 firefighters battled a blaze that ripped through a simulated streetscape at the studios, sending flames about six stories into the sky. The interior of that building sustained some water damage, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin J. Cochran has said the cause of the May fire would be recorded as undetermined. Cochran said the intensity of that fire consumed any evidence that would lead to a cause of ignition.
Tyler Perry Studios, which opened in 2008, includes a 200,000-square-foot studio, five sound stages and a 400-seat theater, according to its website. In March, Perry hosted a fundraiser at the studio for President Barack Obama.
