Actress Janet Hubert, the original Aunt Viv from “The Fresh Prince of Bel Aire,’ has written an open letter to TV talker Wendy Williams regarding Whitney Houston. Check out the scoop!
S2S Magazine reports:
It’s no secret that celebrity gossip Wendy Williams had a tumultuous relationship with Whitney Houston, whom she never met, and one actress is taking her to task for weeping over the singer after her untimely death.
Former “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” actress Janet Hubert addressed Wendy in an open letter. “Celebrities are not topics; we are people just like everyone else. We hurt and we hear and we bleed real blood, not fake blood, just as you do,” she wrote.
The one time Wendy interviewed Whitney on her radio show, the two had a tense exchange and since then, Wendy continued to report on the singer’s drug use. However she delivered a teary monologue the Monday following Whitney’s death in which she drew comparisons between herself and the megastar.
Many S2S users accused Wendy of really feeling sorry for herself and not being genuine, and it seems Janet feels similarly.
“How do you sleep at night knowing that you are one of the biggest bullies in the world disguised as HOT TOPICS?” Janet asked, taking aim at a popular gossip segment on Wendy’s show.
“How do we as parents teach our children to honor each other, treat each other with kindness, when all they see are images of people like you who condone and promote meanness, rude reality TV stars, and your opinion as you berate world renowned people like Janet Jackson, Gwyneth Paltrow and others you slam on a daily basis,” she wrote.
While Wendy’s gossiping was a main issue expressed in Janet’s letter, she also took issue with how Wendy’s actions represent Black women.
“Wendy, I try to teach my son to stand up, shout and scream when there is injustice. Yeah yeah, I know, I have been screaming for years and will continue to do so as long as there are images that depict Black women as neck-shaking, overbearing women who can’t get along.”
While Janice has taken hits in the past for her constant criticism of former co-star Will Smith, she accused Wendy of tearing down celebrities and forgetting that she, too, may one day want the media to have compassion for her.
“You need to stop Wendy. We need to stop, and the world needs to stop. I need to stop as well. There will be no more quotes from me to be misquoted. We need to join together,” she said, warning, “You will not always be up, you will not always be on the A-list and attend all the parties. Ride the wave, sister girl, but make sure you know how to swim when the ride is over.”
So far, Wendy, who promised that she would not continue reporting stories surrounding Whitney’s passing, has not responded.
Wendy Williams breaks down:
In 2003, Williams and Houston had an intense argument over Whitney’s drug abuse, finances and Williams’ incessant need to insult the legend at every turn.

i think Wendy was very sincere with her remarks. However I do understand where Aunt Viv is coming from (she must really still be upset at Will Smith for “Bullying her on BellAire
…. LOL
But seriously i have always wondered how Wendy Williams thought she could have a successful tv talk show with A-list guest considering her radio days when she seemed to dogg on everyone! I mean is there anyone Wendy hasn’t spoke bad about? If you think back to the times on her show when she has cried when guest are on – its usually those guest she once spoke bad about that we get to see her in tears. Remember the Whoopie Goldberg episode? Wendy was in serious tears and thanked Whoopie for coming on considering how she treated Whoppie in her radio days. I like her hot topics segement but i would to always say – hats off for her team that was able to get her a show with a-list guest including every a-lister she has ever hated on. Her team deserves an emmy for getting networks to even consider a tv gig. Makes her a bit of a hypocrite — but it works — so she is doing something right.

Wendy did HER back in the day. Now she has an opportunity to host a national live show and she is taking advantage of the opportunity. Who knows, probably having the guests she dogged out back in her radio days on her tv show will give her therapy and peace….

I have never liked Wendy williams. She is too over the top and every since she did her little segment about Beyonce I really can’t stand her BET should 86 her show, meaning get rid of it. I can’t stand when other black women talk down on other black women. Especially when we as black women are always trying to get over so many cut downs
