Rumor has it that R&B Singer Ciara may release a duet album with the late Aaliyah. Some say Ciara carries many similarities to late R&B sensation, which may be why Ciara has agreed with the project. We also hear that Beyonce Knowles will be working on remaking one of Aaliyah’s most popular hits, One in A Million. I’m not sure if I like the sound of that. That song is such a classic and I don’t think anyone else could rock that song like Aaliyah did. What are your thoughts?

I like Ciara, love Beyonce but neither of them can fill or try to fill the void left behind when Aaliyah passed. If Ciara has the blessing of her family to make this album then maybe it will be received well. Ciara’s style is too over the top sexy, Aaliyah was suttle with her sexyness. If Beyonce promised not to do her Beyonce thing on One In A Million, maybe. We all miss Aaliyah but I don’t think it’s necessary to remix her. She was one of a kind in life and she’s one of a kind in our hearts and minds. I would like to add that iTunes needs to get with it and put more of her music and videoes on their site. No, I think Ciara does not need to make a duet album with Aaliyah. Ciara is a good performer and a good dancer but to me she does not compare with Aaliyah singing wise. As for my gurl, Beyonce, remaking Aaliyah’s song, “One in a Million” would be a blow to her career. That song was a classic and it should not be messed with. Beyonce and Ciara are good singers and both can dance. But Aaliyah had her own style, her own swag and I don’t think ANYONE should try to “remake” her songs. One In A Million became a classic as soon as Aaliyah released it; and it would not only look crazy it would feel crazy and awkward to see Bey sitting there redoing the whole song. The whole vibe that Aaliyah brought to that song would be completely diminished. Bey is more hood than Aaliyah, only by 10%, but regardless even though Bey and Aaliyah were good friends that doesn’t mean that she should go and try to re do one of her songs. I mean the record was recorded in ’97 and for all those who remembered it airing on BET would KNOW that if Beyonce was 2 re do the song and the video for it, that there would be so much controvery in that, it’s not even funny. Aaliyah wasn’t a Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, or Patti Labelle, but she COULD SING. SHE COULD DANCE. She had talents that she was just starting to show the world, her fans, her friends anyone who was willing to embrace her and give her a chance rather than criticize. Ciara needs to be more focused on her ever presently delayed” Fantasy Ride” album instead of stuck on recording a duet with Aaliyah. I mean it would be cool 2 hear Aaliyah and Ciara on the same track, but she’s better off just leaving it at rest. Alot of people have negative things to say about Aaliyah because she’s dead. “Oh she couldn’t sing, she was a ho” all this negativity. I was and always will be a constant fan and supporter of all 3 women, but despite that they’re all 3 different. I don’t think Bey’s voice would really sound right singing Aaliyah’s One In A million, because LiLi’s voice was i have 2 admit light, but sweet and sultry and soothing at the same time. Aaliyah had one of those voices that u could put on a late night easy listening Christian song and still enjoy it and fall asleep to it. Beyonce’s voice is mainly for the R&B, crunk type of thing as well as Ciara’s. Ciara’s voice is a little more lower and husky, breathy. Aaliyah’s was too at times, but i don’t know it just wouldn’t be the same to see two other people remake one of her classics. I know alot of people disagree wit some of her songs such as; Back and Forth, Age ain’t nothing but a number, down wit the clique, at your best and others as being “classic” but if u actually put those songs in your cd player you will definitely see. And to this day, NO ONE has made a similar song that has sold as many units and has gained such noticeability, recognition and star status as Aaliyah has. I wish Bey and CiCi the best, but leave Aaliyah’s music the way it is.

Everyone who’s considered a “great” eventually has someone remaking their music, so I don’t have a problem with someone remaking Aaliyah’s songs one day. But damn, she hasn’t even been dead for 10 years yet! While a great song, One in a Million is not old enough to technically be considered a classic, so why the need to remake a song that’s not quite 15 years old? And damn, it’s not like Aaliyah is so much older than Beyonce and Ciara.
